London Faiths Act Fellows

The Faiths Act Fellows in London would like to thank everyone who helped collect and wrap items for our shoebox appeal. In particular, we'd like to thank the boys at St. Ignatius School who, in the space of just a week, collected so much stuff that the car was groaning and Natasha had to go back for a second load!
On 17th December, on the first snowy day of this winter, a few hardy volunteers braved the cold to come to 'Wrap Up' at St. Mary's Centre. And, on the following day, 'Wrap Up' was taken to St. John's Community Centre in South London.
Armed with scissors, paper, pens, lots of glitter glue, and, most importantly, cakes and hot chocolate, we set about decorating boxes to hold all the donations we had received.
In total, over 110 boxes filled with nappies, toiletries, clothing, toys and much more were donated. And these were then taken to Centrepoint, St. Mungo's and NSPCC shelters to help vulnerable young women and their children.
At the same time as helping vulnerable women and children in our own community, we wanted 'Wrap Up' to be an opportunity to think about vulnerable women and children throughout the world. In particular, pregnant women and young children under 5 are most vulnerable to malaria. In this way the action we were taking locally had a global focus.
Of course and unfortunately, the vulnerable young women and children whom the boxes went to are vulnerable all year round and not only at Eid/Chanukah/Christmas-time. That is why we would encourage you to think about how we can help vulnerable people both in our local and in our global community throughout the year.
Donate to the Faiths Act Fellows anti-malaria campaign or support the Christian Muslim Forum's ongoing work with a donation.
